I posted more than a year ago that I was starting to read Doris Kearns Goodwin's Team of Rivals. It didn't take me a year to read it. But it did take me about five months-- reading off and on. This is not a book to take on unless you are really interested in nineteenth century American politics, but it is interesting. I wasn't that impressed with the parts about Lincoln. It's obvious she loves him, and really, who doesn't. I really enjoyed learning about Seward, Chase, Stanton and the others though. If you think this topic is for you, this is a very well-written book, but it isn't an easy one. Be prepared to spend some time at it.
